# High-density Mono PERC Announced

The solar panel giant Longi announced its all-new Hi-MO X module in Melbourne last August.

The China-based manufacturer has developed its mono PERC solar panel to feature a shingled layout. Shingled solar panels are modules made from multiple thin layers of overlapping cells.

The company says that this development is a breakthrough in solar panel innovation and technology. The square monocrystalline cells are shingled together seamlessly, which offers a sleek appearance.

## The capacities and specs
These modules are available in 405W (72 cell) and 355W (60 cell) options and the Hi-MO X can offer householders efficiencies of 19.3% to 20.3% (72 cell) and 19.1% to 20.3% (60 cell).

The 60 and the 72 cell options have a good temperature coefficient of Pmax -0.37% per °C. This means that for every degree above 25°C, the panels lose 0.37% of their efficiency. This actually refers to panel temperature, not ambient temperature.

While Longi says the panels are low-LID, which means they have a low rate of light induced degradation, there’s no news about light and elevated temperature degradation (LeTID).

The 72 cell panels weigh 23kg and measure 2006mm X 994mm X 35mm and the 60 cell module weighs 19kg and measures 1762 X 994 X 35mm.

The Hi-MO X has, according to Longi, already been pre-qualified for two new categories to be added to the Clean Energy Council’s approved PV module register. These categories are the JCU Cyclonic Testing and MAST Backsheet Durability. The Longi panels include DuPont’s Tedlar backsheet material, making Longi the first solar panel maker to meet these new requirements. The company is well-recognised for choosing high-quality, durable components and materials in its products.

Pricing for the Hi-MO X module was not available at its 2020 launch, and Longi has since released newer panel generations, so check Halcol Energy’s current panel range for up to date pricing and specifications rather than this 2020 announcement.
