## Households can claim up to $4,000 in battery rebates

The Queensland Battery Booster Program’s funding grew from $10 million to $16 million under the Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan, giving more households access to rebates on home battery systems. Halcol Energy recommends confirming current funding availability before applying, since state rebate programs are regularly reviewed and can close once funds are allocated.

Under the enhanced Battery Booster Program, households with a solar PV system of 5 kilowatts or more remain eligible for rebates ranging from $3,000 to $4,000. This rebate structure ensures accessibility, with households earning up to $180,000 eligible for a $3,000 rebate, while those with incomes below $66,667 may qualify for the full $4,000.

These generous rebates significantly reduce the upfront costs associated with purchasing and installing solar battery systems, offering immediate financial relief to homeowners. Coupled with the ongoing savings from reduced electricity bills and increased energy efficiency, participants can enjoy a brighter, more affordable future.

To qualify for the rebates provided by the Battery Booster Program, participants must meet specific criteria, including:

- Maximum Income Threshold: Combined household taxable income must not exceed $180,000 annually.
- Battery Purchase Date: Rebates apply to battery systems purchased after the official program launch.
- Minimum Battery System Size: Eligible battery systems must have a minimum capacity of 6 kilowatt-hours (kWh).
- Approved Battery Systems: Only batteries from the approved list are eligible for the rebate, ensuring quality and efficiency standards are met.
- Minimum Solar PV System Size: Participants must have, or plan to install, a solar PV system of at least 5kW.
- Installation by Approved Installer: Installation must be conducted by an Approved Installer, such as Halcol Energy.

Energy Minister Mick de Brenni highlighted the significance of the Battery Booster Program in empowering households to harness Queensland’s abundant sunshine, stating, “The new Battery Booster initiative invites eligible Queenslanders to make the most of Queensland’s mighty sunshine to help keep household bills down.”
