# Work starts on new Sunshine Coast Business Park

Construction began in 2017 on a $222 million business park at Stockland’s Aura Estate in Caloundra South on the Sunshine Coast, the first of two business parks planned for the site.

## First Business Park development
With good connections to the Bruce Hwy, and adjacent to the Bells Creek Arterial Road, the new business park will not only offer accommodation for many uses, including warehousing and light industries, showrooms and bulky goods storage facilities, research and development industries plus indoor recreation and sports arenas.

The total employment creation of the two business parks is expected to total 5000 permanent jobs, with 3000 being created initially at the first business park development, and a further 2000 new jobs on the second.

John Schroder, the CEO of Commercial Property and Group Executive of the Stockland Group has stated that the earthworks to commence the project have now begun. Initial stages will develop a “construction cluster” targeting businesses that are trade-related, and in addition will offer an office park and a showroom precinct. The close location of the project, will allow residents of Aura to work near to their homes, eliminating the economic costs of travelling to work.

## Expectations of the Aura Estate
Comprising of 2400 hectares, the Stockland’s Aura Estate will provide a new town centre, a central park, various playgrounds and parks, plus nine sporting grounds, with each new home situated in a location close to the nearby recreational facilities. The aim is to provide 20,000 new homes with 50,000 residents in this suburb, with all residents living in close proximity to a community garden area. The financial statistics claim that the Aura Estate will also contribute around $1.5 billion each year to the GDP of the Sunshine Coast.
