## Troubleshooting Your Solar System
We understand that occasional issues with your solar system can be frustrating. To help, we’ve compiled a guide to troubleshoot common problems and get your system back on track. If further assistance is required, don’t hesitate to contact us.

### 1. Wi-Fi Connection Issues
If your monitoring app is not showing solar production data but your inverter has a solid green light (or solid blue light on newer Sungrow models), your system has likely lost its Wi-Fi connection.

This may occur if you’ve recently:

- Changed your Wi-Fi modem or internet provider
- Updated your NBN connection
- Changed your Wi-Fi password

**Solution**: Re-establish your inverter’s Wi-Fi connection.
We’ve attached instructions for the following brands:

- [Fronius](https://halcolenergy.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Fronius-Wifi-Connection-Instructions.pdf)
- [Redback](https://halcolenergy.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Redback-Wifi-Connection-Instructions.pdf)
- [SMA](https://halcolenergy.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/SMA-Wifi-Connection-Instructions.pdf)
- [Sofar](https://halcolenergy.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Sofar-Wifi-Connection-Instructions-IP-Access.pdf)
- [SolarEdge](https://halcolenergy.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/SolarEdge-Wifi-Connection-HD-Waves_No-Screen.pdf)
- [Solax](https://halcolenergy.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Solax-Wifi-Connection-Instructions-IP-Access.pdf)

### 2. System Shutdown Procedure
A system shutdown can resolve many temporary issues, such as software glitches or error lights.

**When to Shut Down Your System**:

- Red light on the inverter
- Flashing green light during the day
- Flashing blue light (Sungrow newer models)
- Error codes or fault messages

**How to Shut Down Your System**:
Refer to the attached instructions for your inverter model. After shutting down, leave the system off for **5 minutes** before restarting.

### 3. Underperforming System
If you believe your solar system is not performing as expected, here’s how to check:

1. **Check Your Inverter**
    - Look for a solid green light (or solid blue for newer Sungrow models).
2. **Monitor Daily Production**
    - At the end of a sunny day, note your solar system’s kWh production.
3. **Estimate Expected Production**
    - Use this formula:
**PV Array Size (kW) × 4.2 (optimal solar hours)**
Example: A 6.6 kW system should produce approximately **27.72 kWh** on a sunny day.
4. **Consider Other Factors**
    - Seasonal changes (winter vs. summer)
    - Shading, dirt, or age of panels

**If your system is producing significantly below this estimate**, it’s time to raise your concerns with us.

### 4. No Lights on Your Inverter
If your inverter has no lights, it may indicate one of two issues:

- **Tripped Circuit Breaker**: Check the “Main Switch (Inverter Supply)” circuit breaker. If it’s OFF (down position), switch it back ON.
- **Inverter Failure**: If the circuit breaker is ON and there are still no lights, your inverter may be faulty and need replacement.

### 5. Understanding Inverter Lights
Each inverter brand has unique light codes that indicate the system’s status. Refer to the attached guides for detailed explanations for these brands:

### 6. No Hot Water

### 7. Lost Power but my Battery hasn’t kicked in?

If you experience a power outage and you have a battery with backup installed, there are a few things you can do before calling us to troubleshoot the issue.
