Could You Save Money by Upgrading Your Solar System?
Have you had your solar energy system installed for a number of years now? If so, it’s likely that you started with a smaller system with fewer panels due to the prices way back then. But did you know that customers are now reaping the benefits of updating and expanding their systems to achieve better returns?
Here’s how.
More Panels, More Power
If you put in a solar installation back in the early days of solar, you may be operating with a smaller system, for example 1.5kW. While this is certainly functional, Sunshine Coast solar installations can offer so much more due to the all-year round sunny climate. It is possible that your smaller system isn’t even enough to power your home during the day, and this means you’re paying unnecessary money to the electricity companies.
If you chose to upgrade to a larger premium system, for example 6.6kW, you could drastically increase the amount of energy you can produce. Not only would you be capable of powering your whole house during daylight hours, but you’d also be generating considerably more excess energy which can be exported to the main grid. This gives you more credit on your energy bill via the feed-in tariff.
Better, More Efficient Equipment
Is your solar energy system simply not working as well as it used to? Like everything, solar equipment can degrade over time, and if not properly maintained you could be losing efficiency. If your solar energy production was capable of powering your home during daylight hours before but isn’t doing the job anymore, you could benefit greatly from an upgrade.
Halcol uses only state of the art technology for Sunshine Coast solar energy installations, ensuring your system gives you maximum energy production and saves you money. If your old system isn’t performing, you’re essentially losing money and paying more to the energy companies than you need. Consider an upgrade today.
What About the Pre-2012 Feed-In Tariff?
It’s true that solar customers who signed up prior to 2012 are receiving a higher rate of credit for the excess energy they provide back to the main grid. However simply looking at the rates doesn’t really tell the whole story.
If your smaller or outdated solar system is barely producing enough energy for your own home, it’s likely that you’re exporting very little excess energy back to the main grid. If that’s the case, you’re really not getting much value from the pre-2012 feed-in tariff.
Upgrading to a larger system with more panels ensures that you produce more energy, send more back to the grid, and get more of a credit on your energy bill even if the current feed-in tariff is lower per kW.
