We recently took the opportunity to catch up with high school chaplain Stu and Mea Cran, the winners of our Solar System Giveaway in December. As part of our 10 year anniversary celebrations, we had asked for your nominations, looking for a deserving cause, person or charity. We had over 100 candidates put forward, but Stu and Mea came out on top with the most votes.
We installed a brand new 11kW solar system last month, featuring Canadian Solar panels.
Here is what Stu had to say:
I had the amazing privaledge of winning the 10 year anniversary solar system. I now have a 11kw system on my roof.
I have been a local state high school Chaplain for 16 years here on the Sunny Coast. My wife and I have been renovating our home to be able to provide accomodation for students who can’t live at home anymore. These students are referred to as independent students. They receive a Centrelink payment but that is all the support they get. It is often a challenge to find a family for them to live with and so, they end up living in shared accomodation with other young adults. Of course the distraction of party mostly means they drop out of school.
Covid has also hit our small business hard, so much so that we will be walking away from it with debt owing.
Winning this solar system is a God send for us financially. I must say that in all my dealings with Halcol, I have been super impressed. Friendly and professional interactions, good timely communication and the quality of the set up seems very good. Chris and Dylan did the install. Their very high standard (perhaps perfectionistic) of workmanship really impressed me. If we didn’t win the system, we would have gone with them anyway. I am genuinely impressed with this business. They have also said that if I have any problems, to simply call them. I haven’t had any yet, but Im confident they will honour that. They really know what they are talking about and I would recommend them to anyone.
It has been our privilege to help such a great cause.
