This isn’t just great news for Halcol; it’s also brilliant news for the people of Queensland because the company is able to offer the Queensland Government 0% solar loans. This means that households and families who may have been unable to afford solar will find it much more within their reach.

The QLD Government interest-free loans

The Solar loans available is for up to $4,500 for solar panels installation Not everyone is eligible to apply for these 0% interest loans.

What are the eligibility criteria?

For the $4,500 loan, you must be a homeowner, be in receipt of Family Tax Benefit B, have paid more than $1,000 in electricity costs over the past six months and not be in possession of an existing solar power system.

The loan is repayable over seven years and you can buy a system worth more than $4,500, but you’ll have to pay the balance to draw down the loan.

If you are approved

If you’re pre-approved for the loan, then you must source your system from an approved provider. The QLD government has selected a few trusted and reliable providers that use Tier 1 panels and inverters.

A common concern among people – especially low-income families – who take loans to pay for their solar systems, is that the panels or inverter will fail before the loan is paid off. With the CEC’s approved retailer list, there’s no need to worry!
